Admirabilis "Above & Beyond"
Admirabilis sind schon eine Band, bei der man gar nicht anders kann als respektvoll den Hut zu ziehen. Denn die zwei Frontdamen starke Truppe trumpfte 2004 nicht nur mit einem Bärenstarken und vor allem Eigenproduzierten Debütalbum auf, nein, sie vermag auch mit dem Nachfolgerwerk und abermals Eigenproduzierten „Above & Beyond“ in solch einem Maße zu begeistern, dass man es gar nicht für möglich halten möchte.
Ohne Plattenvertrag, ganz und gar auf eigenen Beinen stehend und dennoch sowohl inhaltlich wie auch technisch arschgeile Musik erschaffend, das sind die Merkmale die Admirabilis auszeichnen. Dabei stellt „Above & Beyond“ eine deutliche Steigerung zum Vorgängerwerk „Unbelievable" dar, da die Band sich in allen belangen gesteigert hat. Zuerst fällt einem in diesem Zusammenhang natürlich die Produktion auf, die im Vergleich zu „Unbelievable" viel druckvoller und transparenter ausfällt, wie man es so ansonsten nur von einer Major-Produktion her gewohnt ist. Hat man sich aber erstmals an der Produktion satt gehört, dann wird man auch bemerken, dass sich Admirabilis auch beim Songwriting deutlich weiterentwickelt haben. Die Band präsentiert sich auf „Above & Beyond“ ein gutes Stück selbstbewusster, was sich vor allem darin niederschlägt, dass die Songs variabler und gekonnter ausfallen, als es bei den ohnehin schon sehr guten Kompositionen auf „Unbelievable" der Fall war. So schreckt man z.B. nicht davor zurück in einem Song wie „Rise“ ein Saxophon einzusetzen, was dem Song übrigens sehr gut zu Gesicht steht und ihm eine gehörige und nicht zu unterschätzende Würze verleiht. Jedoch bräuchten die Songs auf „Above & Beyond“ solche Spielereien gar nicht, da sie auch so zu überzeugen vermögen, was unter anderem auf das gelungenen Gesangswechselspiel der beiden Frondamen Steffi und Anh zurückzuführen ist. Noch ein gutes Stück ausgeprägter und stimmlich sicherer als auf „Unbelievable" liefern sich die beiden ein gesangliches und oftmals auch wunderbar dramatisches Duell, bei dem die raue Rock-Stimme von Steffi den Contrapart zur engelgleichen Sangesstimme von Anh bildet. Und aus all den genannten positiven Gründen, und auch aufgrund der Tatsache, dass sich „Above & Beyond“ frei von nennenswerten Makeln präsentiert, fällt es mir auch nicht sonderlich schwer mehr als nur einen Anspieltipp zu nennen. Hört euch also ruhig mal den rockig-symphonischen Titeltrack, das gut groovende und auch als Videoclip verfilmte „Stay“, die Gänsehauterzeugende Götternummer „Back Where I Belong“, oder das düstere „The Irresistable Feeling“ an, um euch von den vorhandenen Qualitäten zu überzeugen. Es lohnt sich!!!
