Pünktlich zum 10-jährigen Bandjubiläum melden sich die schweizerischen Hardcore / Thrash / Death Metal Helden von Cataract mit ihrem fünften, und vor allem auch bisher stärkstem Album zurück.
Ganz profan mit "Cataract" betitelt, erweist sich das fünfte Album aus dem Hause Cataract als ein waschechter Nackenbrecher vor dem Herrn. Aus diesem Grund wird man schon nach dem ersten Hördurchgang konstatieren, dass sich Cataract mit ihrem aktuellen Werk nicht nur selber übertroffen haben, sondern sich im selben Atemzug auch noch neu definiert haben. Denn die Musik von Cataract ist anno 2008 nicht nur gewohnt brachial, sondern neuerdings auch reich an geschickt platzierten Variationen und sowohl groovenden wie auch eingängigen Melodielinien. Ohne die alten Tugenden zu verleugnen haben sich Cataract also gehörig weiterentwickelt, ist der Band das gelungen, was so manch anderen Bands nach 10-jährigem Bandbestehen wohl nicht mal im Ansatz gelingen würde, nämlich den eigenen Sound einer wohltuenden Frischzellenkur zu unterziehen. Und dass dabei solche Nackenbrecher wie "Blackest Hour", der mit 6:40 Min übrigens der längste Track auf dem Album darstellt, "Choke Down", "In Ashes", oder auch das wirklich gelungene und riffgewaltige Instrumental "Tonight we Dine in Hell" herausgekommen sind, das spricht wiederum für die Klasse von Cataract, die auch 2008 zum besten gehören, was man in diesem Genre finden kann.
