Before The Dawn Mastermind Tuomas Saukkonen bezeichnet die musikalische Ausrichtung seiner Band gerne als „Melancholic Scandinavian Metal“. Doch ich möchte nach dem Hören von „Soundscape Of Silence” die Musik der finnischen Band lieber als gute, ja sogar sehr gute Musik umschreiben.
Ein höchst gelungener Mix aus Melodic Death und Goth Metal, das bekommt man auf „Soundscape Of Silence” vorgesetzt. Hinterließen die früheren Alben von Before The Dawn einen eher unbefriedigenden Eindruck, so kann die Band mit ihrem fünften Album vollends und vor allem fern irgendwelcher Meckereien überzeugen. Schon das eröffnete „Dying Sun“ macht es überdeutlich klar, dass Before The Dawn nicht mit Süchtigmachenden Melodiebögen geizen, man es auf „Soundscape Of Silence” mit Ohrwürmern im fliegenden Wechsel zu tun bekommt. Jeder Song auf diesem Silberling ist eine Liebkosung der Gehörgänge, wimmelte es doch geradezu von großartigen Momenten, gelungenen und magisch kleinen Einfällen, die allesamt vom Können von Before The Dawn berichten. In einem Jahr in dem The Rasmus bewiesen haben, dass sie nicht mehr länger an der Speerspitze der finnischen Goth-Szene stehen, tut es gut ein Album in Händen zu halten, auf dem alle stärken eine finnischen Düstermannband vorhanden sind. Und darum auch mein Tipp: Wenn man sich zur Weihnachten nur ein Goth-Album wünschen darf, dann sollte man sich tunlichst „Soundscape Of Silence” auf den Wunschzettel schreiben.
