Schon der eröffnende „Battalions Of Steel“ macht mit seinen epischen Arrangements richtiggehend Laune, was durchaus exemplarisch für das ganze Album ist. Dabei bewegen sich Saxon zwischen puren Metal-Songs und Kompositionen, die wie z.B. „Live To Rock“ eine unüberhörbare Hard Rock Einschlag aufweisen. Die Produktion ist dabei gar mächtig ausgefallen, was es der Band umso einfacher macht sich von ihrer besten Seite zu präsentieren. Biff Byford intoniert die Songs wie ein junger Metal-Gott, so hungrig und stimmgewaltig, dass es einfach eine wahre Freude ist. Daher kann „Into the Labyrinth“ abschließend auch nur positiv bewertet werden, da Saxon ein grundsolides und durchwegs gelungenes Album eingeprügelt haben.
