Skindred „Roots Rock Riot“
Das Crossover-Genre ist in diesen Tagen nicht wirklich von Leben beseelt. Nur noch wenige Bands haben sich dieser musikalischen Spielart verschrieben, die mal in den 90er Jahren so stark angesagt war. Umso erstaunter war ich dementsprechend, dass Skindred mit ihrem zweiten Album „Roots Rock Riot“ eine richtige Crossover-Granate auf die Menschheit loslassen.
Die Musik von Skindred präsentiert sich als ein Mix aus Reggae, Punk, Metal und Hip Hop, der zumindest mir exzellent mundet. Erfischend unkonventionell und auf etwaige Genre-Grenzen pfeifend bieten Skindred 45 Minuten beste Unterhaltung, bei der sowohl die inhaltliche wie auch technische Umsetzung zu überzeugen vermag. Egal ob der aggressiv eröffnete Titeltrack, das Reggae und Punk Stück „State of Emergency“, oder das äußerst variable „Cause Ah Riot“, auf diesem Album findet man keinen Durchhänger, sondern nur hochwertige Songkost. Crossover-Fans – so wie ich einer bin – werden dieses Album auf alle Fälle lieben, während auch der tolerante Musikfan mal ein Ohr, oder auch zwei riskieren kann.
