Thy Majestie „Dawn“
Als mir die neue Scheibe von Thy Majestie ins Haus geflattert ist, da war ich nicht wirklich begeistert. Denn in vergangenen Tagen hat mich die Band noch nie überzeugen können, habe ich deshalb schon immer einen großen Bogen um Thy Majestie. Doch jeder hat im Leben eine zweite Chance verdient, so auch Thy Majestie.
Sieh an, Thy Majestie sind ja richtig gut geworden. Ich muss ganz ehrlich sagen, dass mich die Italiener mit ihrem aktuellen Werk mehr als nur angenehm überrascht haben. Wo früher noch überbrodelnder Kitsch vorherrschte, da setzt die Band aktuell lieber auf einen gekonnten Mix aus progressiven Einlagen, Ohrschmeichelnden Melodien und wohlüberlegtem Pathos. So und nicht anders muss Power Metal sein, davon können sich andere (Kitsch)Bands wie z.B. Rhapsody of Fire ruhig eine Scheibe davon abschneiden. Songs wie „As You Fall“, „The Hunt“, „To an Endless Devotion“, und „Day of the Changes“ hätte ich Thy Majestie auf alle Fälle nie im Leben zugetraut. Daher auch meine Empfehlung: Reinhören!
